Privacy Policy

Overview
SimStudio is a Windows desktop application. This policy describes what information the app and its backend services collect, why, and how it's used. It covers what SimStudio does today — it will be revised as new features (like YouTube account connection) ship.
Information we collect
- License key and hardware fingerprint. To validate your license and prevent unauthorized sharing of a single key across many machines, the app sends your license key and a hardware fingerprint (derived from your machine, not personally identifying on its own) to our license server.
- Swing video/images (only if you use AI Swing Analysis). If you enable the AI swing analysis feature, still frames or short clips from your swing camera are sent to Anthropic's API to generate the analysis. This only happens when you trigger or enable this feature — it is not sent otherwise.
- Purchase information. If you purchase a license or subscription, our payment processor collects billing details directly — SimStudio does not store your payment card information.
What we don't collect
SimStudio does not collect shot data, session recordings, or camera footage beyond what's described above. Your rounds, shot history, and swing recordings are stored locally on your machine unless you explicitly enable a cloud-connected feature.
Third-party services
- Anthropic— processes swing images/video for AI analysis, only when that feature is used. See Anthropic's own privacy policy for how they handle that data.
- Paddle — our payment processor for licenses and subscriptions, once billing is live. Paddle handles payment details directly; we never see your full card number.
Data retention
License and hardware-fingerprint records are retained for as long as your license is active. Swing images sent for AI analysis are retained according to Anthropic's API data-retention terms, not indefinitely by us.
Your choices
AI swing analysis is opt-in — it only runs when you enable it in settings or trigger an analysis manually. You can use the core data dashboard, swing replay, and streaming features without enabling it.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page as SimStudio's features change — in particular, connecting a YouTube/Google account (planned, not yet available) will add a new section describing what that connection accesses.
